SSDC Class 3A TP Test Guide

Singapore Safety Driving Centre · Auto car

Everything you need to walk into your TP practical test at SSDC Woodlands knowing exactly what's coming: the test-day routine, every station on the Level 1 circuit, the industrial-estate road traps, and how the tester scores you.

Key facts

How you fail

1 Immediate Failure (IF), or 20 or more demerit points. Demerits come in steps of 2, so 18 is the highest passing score. SSDC's rules say the test is stopped at either, so you only go on the road with less than 20 and no IF.

Where

Every test runs on the Level 1 circuit, which is tighter than the Level 3 circuit most lessons use. Circuit first, then the roads of Woodlands Industrial Park.

Test length

About 20–40 min of driving: the circuit takes about 20 min (up to 30), then 5–15 min on the road, shorter at busy times.

Test fee (2026)

$326.34: $40.00 TP fee + $2.94 admin + $239.80 test vehicle + $43.60 warm-up, plus $1.64 if you pay online. No refund for any reason, and latecomers can't sit the test. The TP fee rises to $45 on 13 Mar 2027. Private candidates pay their instructor's car charge instead, often $450–680 in total.

SSDC Class 3A pass rate

51% first attempt, 56% repeat (Traffic Police data, Aug 2025 – Jul 2026). BBDC is 53% / 57%, CDC 39% / 47%.

Speed limits

20 km/h in the circuit. On the road, most of Woodlands Industrial Park is 50, Woodlands Ave 8 and North Coast Ave are 60, and the school zone on Woodlands Crescent is 40. Going over is an IF, but too slow costs points too, so keep near the limit.

Parking time limits

Vertical parking 3 minutes, parallel parking 5 minutes. Going over either is an IF.

If you remember only three things

  1. 1

Wait until you're past the kerb before turning out of directional change and vertical parking. Mounting the kerb on the way out is the IF SSDC learners report most.

  2. 2

Only course kerbs are "just" 10 points. Striking any other kerb is an IF, including the small one as you turn out of the start lot, before the circuit has even begun.

  3. 3

Stop fully at every stop line, and give way to motorcycles and lorries. The circuit is shared with other classes, and SSDC's road routes run through an industrial estate full of parked trucks.
