What is a driving refresher course?
A refresher course is a few practical lessons for people who already hold a Singapore driving licence but haven't driven in a while, feel nervous, have just converted a foreign licence, or bought a new car. There is no test and nothing to fail — it is practice with a coach beside you.

All three driving centres run refresher courses built on 100-minute lessons. Prices include GST.

Private instructors usually charge S$50–90 an hour with no enrolment fee, and some will coach you in your own car.
Refresher course FAQ
- How many refresher lessons do I need?
- Most returning drivers need 3 to 5 lessons. Someone off the road for a few months may need one or two; after 10 years or more, plan for more.
- Can I take refresher lessons in my own car?
- Yes, with many private instructors — you already hold a licence, so a dual-control car isn't required. Driving schools always use their own cars.
- Driving school or private instructor?
- Schools follow a fixed programme with circuit practice and set minimums (2 to 5 lessons). Private instructors are more flexible on timing, pick-up and what you practise, and often start within the week.
- Can I fail a refresher course?
- No. A refresher course has no test and does not affect your licence.
