What is a private driving instructor (PDI)?
A private driving instructor (PDI) is a Traffic Police-licensed instructor who teaches in their own car on your schedule, instead of through a driving school. This directory covers 103 active PDIs in Singapore, backed by 1,800+ learner testimonials we have collected, alongside first-timer pass rates published by the Singapore Police Force, lesson fees, pickup areas and contact details — so you can compare instructors on evidence rather than word of mouth.
How PDI testimonials are verified
Testimonials in this directory are collected from public learner posts on pdireviews.com, HardwareZone, Reddit and Lemon8, plus reviews submitted by signed-in BTT.sg users. Each one is matched to a specific instructor using the name, contact number and driving centre mentioned in the post before it is published, and duplicates are removed. Because any single opinion can mislead, every instructor page pairs its testimonials with that instructor's official first-timer pass rate from the Singapore Police Force — so you can weigh what learners say against how their students actually performed.
PDI reviews FAQ
- Where can I find PDI testimonials and reviews in Singapore?
- On this page. Every row shows how many testimonials we hold for that instructor, and each instructor's page carries the testimonials themselves alongside their pass-rate trend. The underlying reviews come from pdireviews.com, HardwareZone, Reddit and Lemon8, plus reviews left by BTT.sg users.
- Can I trust PDI reviews?
- Treat any single review as one person's experience. The useful signal is consistency across many testimonials, and whether it matches the instructor's official pass rate. Be sceptical of reviews with no specifics, and of instructors whose only reviews appear on their own listing.
- How much does a private driving instructor cost?
- Rates vary by instructor, licence class and lesson length, so treat these as estimates. Among the listed instructors who have shared fees with us, one-time enrolment is typically $130–$200 and weekday lessons $63–$89 an hour; across all of them the full spread runs $100–$390 for enrolment and $50–$120 an hour. Weekend and public holiday rates are broadly similar, $52–$130 an hour. Each instructor's page shows their own fees where available.
- Is a PDI better than a driving school?
- A PDI usually costs less overall and gives you one consistent instructor who knows your weak points. A school gives you a structured lesson syllabus, in-house booking, and a pool of instructors if you want to switch. Learners who want flexibility tend to go private; learners who want everything arranged for them tend to go with a school.
