Assessment Checklist
The tester marks you on the official Traffic Police assessment checklist. Know how it works and you'll know where your points really go.

1 free delay in moving off and 1 free case of insufficient acceleration
1 free wide turn, 1 free sharp turn and 1 free wrong position at a junction
1 free missed mirror check before slowing down, 1 free before turning, and 1 free before changing lane or overtaking
1 free unnecessary stop and 1 free failure to overtake when necessary
1 free failure to brake while stationary
In the circuit, 2 free missed or wrong signals and 2 free uncancelled signals. On the road, 1 free each for a late, missed or wrong, and uncancelled signal
The costliest mistakes
10 points: striking the kerb, stopping on a pedestrian crossing, slow reaction to danger
8 points: not taking precaution for pedestrians or cyclists, not enough side clearance, causing others to slow or swerve, proceeding on amber
6 points: road hogging, tailgating, changing lane at a bend, not slowing for hazards, inconveniencing cross traffic
What the form doesn't tell you
Kerbs that aren't part of the course are an IF. Striking a course or lot kerb is the 10-point "strike kerb". Striking any other kerb, like the roadside kerb while you line up beside a parking lot, has been marked as "improper action causing near accident" (item 72), an IF. Some say it depends on the tester.
Mount, not strike, is the IF. A wheel riding up onto the kerb is a mount. One learner put BBDC's line at the wheel leaving the ground.
A correction means stopping and changing between D and R. Easing the steering while you're still reversing isn't one. In parking, the form has no correction item, but learners report the first one free and 2 points for each after. Treat that as tester practice, not a rule.
Free boxes are real. Learners' result slips show ticks in boxes with a line through them that cost nothing, like being reminded to signal.
If the tester has to brake or steer, expect to fail, usually under item 72.
You may carry on after failing. Some testers stop the test at 20 points or an IF; others let you finish the stations, or even drive the road, and tell you at the end.
The result slip shows where each fault happened, e.g. "BBDC – Circuit", "Bukit Batok West Ave 5", "Entrance of BBDC", with its points, any free counts and how many times. Use it to plan your revision lesson if you need one.
The full assessment checklist
BBDC doesn't publish its own copy of the form. The Traffic Police use the same form at every centre, so this is the copy CDC publishes.
Class 3 / 3A FINAL Assessment Checklist
- A penalty is indicated by a tick .
- A tick in a circle indicates ‘Immediate Failure’.
- A tick in a box carries demerit points shown beside the box.
- A tick in a box with a diagonal line carries no demerit point.
- One Immediate Failure or accumulation of 20 demerit points constitutes a failure.
Tap the boxes and circles to mark a mock test. Items 25, 27, 48, 65 are for Class 3 (manual cars) only.
